Hugo's Deli
A fried mushroom sanga so good I thought it was chicken. No dine-in though, but if it’s sunny you can chill on some milk crates, peak-Melbourne style.

To represent Melbourne as a café along the iconc Hardware Lane is a lofty role, but Maker Coffee does it well. Good beans, and good vibes.
Up in North Melbourne, Beatrix takes the cake—but this certainly takes second place as one of the best bakeries around there.
The most authentic Italian food spot up north. Dining in for their pasta feels like being welcomed and fed by a nonna you’ve never had—it’s homely, cosy, and delicious.
Overshadowed by Pellegrini’s around the corner, Traveller Coffee is another Melbourne laneway staple. Quite possibly the best rendition of a Magic I’ve had (real smooth—it’s all in the milk pour). Solid toasties too.
There’s a reason Gradi’s not on this list, and it’s because their pizzas here are far more superior. Fight me on this one.
Slightly biased because they’re all Filipino flavours and tastes I grew up with — but it’s seriously good ice-cream. Great range, with absolutely delish textures in the gelato. Definitely coming back over and over.
A cosy little café that serves Korean-inspired sandwiches for brunch. Some of the sandwiches a little too rich and heavy though. I think I prefer their night menu.
